Wow… today was actually wild 😭
The mission was getting from Whitianga to Rotorua, with pit stops at Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach. Sounds simple… it was not.
First problem: the weather forecast was looking absolutely tragic. Rain basically chasing us the whole way. Second problem: the road was long, super windy, and Rotorua was not close.
Hot Water Beach was a complete fail 💀 We pulled up at high tide and the whole bit where you’re meant to dig your own little hot pool was literally underwater. Timing = 0/10.
But Cathedral Cove? Actually worth it. The walk down was kinda brutal (why was it so steep??) but the views were insane. Definitely one of those “okay this was worth the effort” moments.
We grabbed some lunch after, then drove to Rotorua in what felt like non-stop rain 🌧️ But apparently it’s meant to clear tomorrow so we’re choosing optimism ✨
