Great Wide Open is written by Andy and Margaret. This page says who pays for what, so you can weigh what you read here.
- No one pays to appear here. There are no adverts, no sponsored posts and no affiliate links.
- We paid our own way. Every trip, stay, meal and tour we write about was paid for by us.
- A name is a recommendation, not a sale. When we name or link a hotel, restaurant or operator, it is because we think it is worth your time.
Affiliate links
We do not carry any at present. If that changes, every link that could earn us a commission will be marked where it appears, and this page will name the programmes we use. A commission would not decide what we recommend.
Free or discounted travel
We have never accepted a free or discounted stay, tour, meal or product in return for coverage. If we ever do, the page concerned will say so where it matters, not in small print.
Been there, or researched
Some pages come from our own journeys. Others are researched from official and published sources. The pages we build now say near the top which kind they are and when they were last checked. Where sources disagree, we tell you rather than quietly pick one. Some older pages predate this practice and are being brought up to it.
How we price
Every price on our cost pages comes from a named, dated source, and the method is the same in every country. How we work out costs sets it out in full.
Corrections
If something here is wrong or out of date, please tell us. We would rather be corrected than be wrong.
