Travel guides and transformative journeys

Day 27: Holding the Moment Before Heading for NZ

We’re about a third of the way through this trip now. It’s been a mix of long travel days, normal days like today just doing life stuff (shopping, laundry, etc), and those moments of new places and experiences that make it all worth it.

The weather’s actually been pretty kind to us. We’ve definitely eaten a bit too well and probably should’ve walked, cycled or swum more… but honestly no regrets.

We’ve caught up with old friends, seen family, and had some really good moments together along the way.

We’ve tried to avoid car travel where we can. Trains, ferries, trams and buses have been the vibe. But Australia—like the US and Canada—is still very much a car country, so sometimes you just can’t escape it.

Also, since we started this journey, a war has begun, and it’s hard not to feel heavy about that. Just a few weeks ago we were flying over some of those places, and now people there are going through so much. It really puts things into perspective
