Leaving Hong Kong isn’t easy, honestly. We’ve got family here, and there’s just so much we love—the people, the food, the walks, the markets… all of it. We’ve been lucky to visit quite a few times, and even spend the last three years coming back regularly. Staying in Sha Tin was new for us, but it turned out to be such a good experience. We’ll definitely be back.
Once everything was packed, we left the Alva Hotel in Sha Tin mid-afternoon and hopped on the shuttle down to West Kowloon. That whole area is massive—there’s an MTR station, the Airport Express, and the main high-speed rail station all in one place. It’s super modern and kind of impressive, like a lot of the big infrastructure projects in Hong Kong and mainland China.
We took the Airport Express—it’s fast, no question—but by Hong Kong standards, it’s a bit pricey. A one-way ticket to the airport is HK$105, while the bus would’ve been more like HK$27–31. Still, if you want speed and convenience, it does the job.
At the airport, everything was smooth. Security and customs were quick, no stress, and we got to the gate without any issues.
Our flight left at 23:30.
