We thought about doing this trip by road at first. It would’ve been like a 2-day mission with a rental car and a random motel stop somewhere halfway. But then we clocked the rental fees, motel prices, and the absolute pain of driving ~800 km… yeah, not the vibe.
Next option: the train. It’s like an 11-hour ride, which is way longer than that train we took down the NSW coast. And after reading some reviews… let’s just say people weren’t exactly hyping it up.
So we said nah and booked a Qantas flight instead. 65 minutes, in and out, minimal drama at the domestic terminal. Easy.
The only real L is actually getting to Melbourne Airport. Why is it basically road-only access?? Plus there’s roadworks everywhere and the directions are low-key confusing.
Melbourne, your trams, beaches, streets, and vibes were great… but Sydney, not gonna lie, it’s good to be back. ✈️
